TODAY’S WORD FOR YOU, 8-8-15

images-7

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  (2 Timothy 2:15)

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.  (2Timothy 3:16-17)

WHAT DOES GOD REQUIRE OF US?

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?  (Micah 6:8)

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.  (James 1:27)

LOVE GOD AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER

“. . .Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.  (Mt 22:37-39)

BE JOYFUL AND THANKFUL

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.  (Psalm 33:12)

The blessings of God are withheld and replaced with curses and judgment upon the nation and people who are disobedient and reject God-

Because thou servedst not the LORD  thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart for the abundance of all things;  (Deut 28:47)

Gay Marriage Victory? Hey! I’m not on this boat!

This is an awfully long post if you care to read it through, but watch the VIDEO as Jim Daly expresses the thoughts which I concur with.   Excerpted from his video:

“We must season our words with salt; it’s time to be a light in these dark times;
It’s not time to be combative, caustic.
Now more than ever we must maintain the character of Christ and
Remember that it is God’s kindness that leads one to repentance;
We must continue to show that loving kindness as we talk to our neighbors and friends as they see this issue differently. . .”

Please take these words to heart so that we will together strive to live in peace with all men.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:  (Heb 12:14)

Recompense to no man evil for evil.  Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

(Rom 12:17-18)

I love the colors of the rainbow, but moreso its Creator, our Almighty God and Father, who came to seek and save lost humanity.   God so loved ‘the world’. . .

This is the time to look hard at the scriptures and obey them.

Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

(Mt 22:36-39)

The Christian Gazette

Hey! Who pulled the rug from under my feet? I’m not on this boat and I won’t agree and neither will the God who this country claims to be under.

This is not okay! Where is the voice of righteousness? Where is the voice of wisdom?

Who says I have to be politically correct?  I want my liberty!  I want my generations to be raised under God and not the lust of this nation. Why do teenagers who have sex with the same sex get their own room in the library – the “safe zone”? Thanks  ACLU for your gay sex posters all over my  public libraries that we pay for. I want my posters up – God made marriage for a man and a woman.

No, this is not hate speech, I signed up for a country under God, of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and I’m…

The Story of a GOURD- The Wonders of God’s Grace and Mercy

And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd. (Jonah 4:6)

“And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.”  (Jonah 4:6)

One of my favorite Bible stories as a child and even now, is the story about Jonah.  I marvel at how God spoke to the obedient large fish which some say was a whale, but no matter. Just as great a lesson is the story about the GOURD. . .

When I take my grandchildren to the nearby park, we enjoy walking between the small plots in the community garden where we see many flowers, fruits and vegetables and smell the different herbs like basil and rosemary.   One particular day I pointed out a gourd hanging under its thick vine and told them the story of what happened to Jonah when he took God’s message to Nineveh.

The story lesson about the gourd is that of God extending His grace and mercy to Jonah and to us as sinners.  It is a story of God’s loving kindness and tender mercies toward us as individuals, a story about 120,000 people whose leader led his people to repentance of their sins and averted wholesale destruction and judgment of their city, Nineveh in 862 B.C.  It is a story of HOPE for anyone, any family, community, church, village, city, state or nation who will repent of their sinful ways, wicked living and moral decadence and instead, choose to OBEY GOD.

Jonah 3:8-4:11  King James Version (KJV)

But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.

And he prayed unto the Lord, and said, I pray thee, O Lord, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

Therefore now, O Lord, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.

Then said the Lord, Doest thou well to be angry?

So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.

And the Lord God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.

But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.

And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.

10 Then said the Lord, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:

1And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

God had GRACE on the one who pitied the gourd instead of the Ninevites. He extended His Grace and long-suffering to Jonah who did not pity the people who would have perished, had they not repented.  God had the LAST WORD:

11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

God is a God of SECOND CHANCES; He saw us in our sins and gave us another chance to accept His Grace.  He is the Judge of all men, but will be merciful to all those who repent of their sins and turn to Him.

Let us learn from God’s example to also extend God’s Love, Grace and Mercy  to the unsaved outside of the sheepfold.

Jesus said,

John 10:14-16 King James Version (KJV)

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

John 17:20-24  King James Version (KJV)

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

SOUNDING THE SHOFAR- A Recap

A RECAP OF WHAT THE SOUNDING THE  SHOFAR BLOG POSTS ARE ABOUT

THE PURPOSE FOR THIS BLOG IS TO ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, to tell you that God loves you, and wants to bless you and save you.  This is as simple as believing in Him and accepting His gift of salvation and eternal life; to believe in the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ for our  sins.   It is about having faith in God’s Word, the Bible and to live a life pleasing to God, to obey His two great commandments of LOVING GOD and LOVING ONE ANOTHER.

The emphasis in SOUNDING THE  SHOFAR- Exhortations for the End Times was about faith in God and the importance of studying the Bible to learn how to please God and fulfill His plan and purpose for our lives,  and whether you attend church or not is up to you.  My advice to you is to SEEK GOD FIRST OF ALL, SEEK a relationship with HIM, ask Him to make Himself real to you, to come into your life and give it meaning!

It may come as a surprise to some of you that CHURCH is not what you should seek. CHURCH, RELIGION, ‘BEING SPIRITUAL’ WILL NOT SAVE YOU because SALVATION IS ASSURED ONLY BY FAITH IN THE NAME OF JESUS.  Only a personal relationship with Jesus matters and nothing else! And it is the Holy Spirit that reveals God to us and teaches us what God is saying to us in the Bible.  Man can and will lead us astray from the Truth, but God never lies or deceives us.  Which brings us to…

SOUNDING THE  SHOFAR- The Enemy in Our Midst.  These posts will emphasize that while we have a Heavenly Father who wants to bless us, we also have an ENEMY of our souls who want to destroy us.  It is SATAN, the ‘Enemy in Our Midst’ who wants to do everything he can to STEAL away our blessings of salvation and eternal life with God in heaven.  Satan’s desire is to rob us of LOVE, PEACE, AND JOY that God wants to bless us withSatan’s goal is to DESTROY lives and take as many souls to hell with him as possible.  Satan is our ADVERSARY, the ENEMY IN OUR MIDST  who seeks to keep us from the blessings God has for our lives.  Satan’s main strategies are LIES and DECEPTION, and he uses others to do his evil works.

This is the topic being discussed now, recognizing the strategies and devices of Satan, and how to resist his power and influence in our lives. To benefit from the coming posts, if you haven’t done so, it would be good for you to go back and read from Chapter 1 of my eBook,  SOUNDING THE  SHOFAR- Exhortations for the End Times- Having a personal relationship with God; Chapter 2 Pleasing God, Chapter 3 The Power of God’s Word, etc.

PLEASE CHECK IN THE ARCHIVES  FROM JULY 2012

GOD BLESS YOU! ~Liz

Very good post on what Christmas should be about!

Fellowship of the Minds

It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season.

How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don’t care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth, just GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

Now, having said that let Me go on.

If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn’t allow a scene depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santas and snowmen and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn. If all My followers did that there wouldn’t be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town.

Stop worrying…

Love Is About Caring

From my earliest memory and up until I became an adult, I don’t ever recall either of my parents saying “I love you” or showing us affection.  It is common in many Asian cultures not to openly show affection so those 3 little, but endearing words, are rarely expressed.  But I know my parents cared and loved my two sisters and me very much.  They showed their love by working very hard to provide for our needs of food, shelter, clothing, and a happy and comfortable home.  There were rules and Sunday church attendance to train us in correct behavior and to reverence God.  There were driver training classes, and curfews to assure our safety when we learned and began to drive.

We lived out in the country.  My dad was a parts supply person for the US Navy, and my mom was a housewife, who had a home dressmaking business, and when we were older she worked as a waitress in a friend’s restaurant at night.  When I was in high school my Mom ran a snack bar and catering service at a private golf course where we would help her out on weekends.  My mom managed to provide me with prom dresses when I was in high school.  My folks provided my cars and gas and supported me through college.  In fact they provided for all of my needs up until the day I got married at 21.  If my earthly parents were so good to me, how much more does God, our Heavenly Father want to bless all of us also?!

God tells us that He loves us and cares for us.  He has a plan for our lives.  He said to Jeremiah,

“Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:  therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”  (Jer 31:3)

“For I know the plans I have for you, ” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  ( Jer 29:11 NIV)

Jesus taught us to pray,

“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. . .”   (Mt 6:10)

It is God’s will that all men are blessed and know Him as God Almighty, our Father in heaven.  His will is that we would love and honor Him, and that we would love one another.

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”  (Mt 32:37-39)

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.”  (1 John 4:7-11)

His will is that “all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth.”  (1Tim2:4)
