Who’s the ‘DUMB ASS’?

I found this post in draft on my old iPad and thought that I should finish it.  It started out on the ‘lighter side’ and follows ‘A Compromiser’s Fall’  which you should read, if you haven’t yet done so.  As you will see, it ends on a serious note.

2 Peter 2:16  But (Balaam) was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

In the scripture above, Peter refers to the donkey as a ‘dumb ass’ meaning that God would use this animal, a dumb ass without human speech, to speak to a human.

But the real dumb ass was not the donkey, but the wayward prophet, Balaam!   Balaam was not ‘deaf and dumb’, but just plain dumb.  Balaam, in this case, was the dumb ass!

Anyone who has been blessed with God’s anointing in his life and has been privileged to have had an intimate relationship with God would be wise to value his status with God.  But it is also happening today where there are many servants of God who are DUMB ASSES, who would turn from listening to God and fall for the deceptive voices of Satan that beguile them to sin against God, being blinded by the lusts of their flesh and temptations of riches and rewards.

There can be only a few possible reasons why Christian leaders fall away from God- temptation is greater than the power of God’s Word in their lives, and they would confess that ‘the devil made me do it’, both reasons given in the fall of man (Gen 3:11-13).

As it turns out, the apostle Peter had no idea that ‘dumb ass’ would become a colloquial slang word that we use to label and describe people who are:

Extremely Stupid or Foolish

These words are high on the list of definitions for DUMB ASS.  So happens that frequently DUMB ASSES are hard to spot initially, because they are ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ and they look like the real stuff, but are counterfeit, false, and deceptive like their father, the devil.

In conclusion, I want to emphasize that this is a serious topic, that Satan is working overtime in the midst of the church.  Some Christians are afraid of their own shadow.  I exaggerate to make this point that many Christians will be deceived, will be misguided, and will lose their way because of the growing number of imposters in leadership and ministry in their churches.  As an example, there are more gay ministers ‘coming out’ today and remain in their congregations.  There are some who counsel homosexuals and engage in perversions with them.  There are small, medium and mega-church ministers who tickle the ears of their hearers by preaching what makes people feel good, not believing that God will hold them accountable for what they’re not teaching.  Hey, Folks, those are the DUMB ASSES and if they don’t repent, they will be cast into the lake of fire with Satan.

The Perils of Watered-Down Christianity

What kind of Christian are you? Am I? Are we Hot, Cold, or Lukewarm? Are we being the light of the world and salt of the earth? Are we teaching and preaching a true or false gospel? Are we ‘going with the flow’ with the world, or are we ‘separated unto God’ and living to serve and please Him only?

End Time Bible Prophecy

Greg Laurie notes, ‘you can’t have your own Bible. You can’t edit God’

Today there are a lot of people living a watered-down version of Christianity. What concerns me is that many of these people who are running around and saying they are Christians do not have lifestyles that back it up.

Here is what Jesus says: “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!” (Revelation 3:15–16 NLT) A more literal translation of the word “spit” would be vomit.

I remember a time when my wife and I and our son went to a fast food restaurant and ordered some fries. When we got them, they were wilted and lukewarm.

More than 6 million self-described “evangelicals” voted for Obama. Why & what else do the exit polls tell us about how Christians voted?

Read numbers 8-13 in particular! Christians have lost their light and savor.

[CORRECTED VERSION: In the first version of this column, I incorrectly reported a figure of 25 million evangelicals voting for Obama in 2012. The actual number, as now noted below, is about 6.4 million. Please forgive my error.]

As the smoke clears from the wreckage of the Romney defeat on Tuesday, some intriguing yet disturbing facts are coming to light.

* Fewer people overall voted in 2012 (about 117 million) compared to 2008 (about 125 million).

* President Obama received some 6.6 million fewer votes  in 2012 than he did in 2008 (60,217,329 in 2012 votes compared to 66,882,230 votes in 2008).

* One would think that such a dynamic would have helped Romney win — clearly it did not.

* Incredibly, Governor Romney received nearly 1 million fewer votes in 2012 than Sen. John McCain received in 2008. (In 2008, McCain won 58,343,671 votes. In 2012, Romney…

Parable of the Sower- Shofar eBook, Chap. 6 Thorny Ground Christians

We continue with the Parable of the Sower and the different ground that the seed, or Word of God fell on.  The relevance of this parable is about what happens when we hear God’s Word, how we receive it, and whether or not it is allowed to grow our faith.  Briefly, Way Side Christians are those hearers who have the Word stolen away from them, and the Stony Ground Christians are those who did not allow the Word of God to take root, resulting in them having shallow faith with little or no spiritual growth in their lives.  I believe that this group is comprised of the ministers and spiritual leaders who don’t teach the whole counsel of God and/or mislead their members with ‘different gospels’ other than the gospel of salvation, of Christ crucified.  And their members, as a result, will leave the church or backslide because of shallow faith.

I hope that you will go back and review previous posts, meditate on the Parable of the Sower for yourself  and let God give you further understanding of this important parable.  Here is a link with a very good discussion about the importance of being ‘rooted’ in God’s Word.  ‘What will cause the great falling away’

This is what is said about the seed that fell among the thorns:

“Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless”(Mark 4:19, AMP).

There are ‘cares and anxieties of the world’ that can prevent the Word of God from having an important place in our hearts and lives. Meeting basic survival needs of providing food, shelter and clothing for oneself or one’s family can take precedence over Bible reading or church activities. Some Christians say they have to work on Sunday, but what about Bible study or prayer meeting night? No one works 24/7. When folks stay away from fellowship they have already started to back slide. Trust and faith in God diminishes and the Word of God has become choked out of their lives.

Other Thorny Ground Christians succumb to ‘distractions of the age’ and chase after ‘the deceitfulness of riches’ and ‘pleasures of this life’ because they have been ensnared by Satan, whom the Bible says is the prince of this world who causes folks to be disobedient to God (Eph 2:2). They are deceived into thinking that pleasures and riches will bring them happiness and are caught in the trap of desiring more and more– a bigger house, fancier car, nicer things, clothes, jewelry, more and more of the latest fads and fashions, plus many other ‘delights’. For a time they may enjoy their wealth and material things and may even be generous in their offerings, to be ‘respected’ for their name and reputation. But more often than not, their ‘love of money becomes the root of all evil’ and they must have more money, more credit cards, more loans, etc. to maintain their style of living and/or get out of the debts they have incurred. Satan lets folks enjoy themselves for a while only to watch them suffer from their poor choices. In 1Timothy 6:10 the apostle Paul wrote,

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

Thorny Ground Christians become servants of mammon, the god of money. They are often misled by unfruitful Thorny Ground Christian leaders who preach an unscriptural prosperity gospel and have made their church and themselves rich at the expense of their own members. TV evangelists, in particular, are noted for spending more time on entertainment, raising funds and commercializing religion, and less time preaching the whole counsel of God. Some have scandalized the Church with the exposure of their riches and immoral lifestyles.  Jesus said,

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Mt 6:19-21).

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon” (Mt 6:24).

Thorny Ground Christians have allowed their love for the world, other things, and other priorities take the place of their love for God and for His Word. They are spiritually stunted Christians who will not be fruitful because they have had the Word of God choked out of their hearts and lives.
