America in Crisis: A Battle of “Princes and Principalities” (A KJ Op Ed)

We are in a BATTLE of NOT FLESH AND BLOOD, but a SPIRITUAL BATTLE of the forces of GOOD AND EVIL, between GOD and SATAN for the souls of men.

American Christianity 2Last night, my bride and I attended a once-a month get-together with Christian Friends , with whom we used to meet weekly in a church-sponsored small group, in someone’s home on a weeknight.

Being Southern Baptists, rest assured that there was plenty of food and fellowship.

After the meal, we began to talk about what it going on around us, in this nation, once referred to as “The Shining City Upon the Hill”.

The topics of Racial Division and the murders of 9 American Law Enforcement Offices in 9 days, the rapidly deteriorating American Work Force, The potentially-catastrophic Iran Deal, the arrest of American Christian, Kim Davis, while others in power, such as Hillary Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama, laugh in the face of our laws, and the vulgarity, and oblivious self-centered nature of Americans Pop Culture.

The conclusion that that the 11 of us came to, was the fact that America is…

WARNING TO AMERICA: A Call to Repentance Before Judgement (Part 1)

This is a very long post, but worth reading through to the end.   Hopefully you’ll find that a good part of it may be descriptive of what is really happening at this present time.   However, I don’t recommend quitting your jobs unless you can still provide for your family needs and pay for your bills, etc.

Not only America, but the whole world is already experiencing God’s judgment.  We are already living in the ‘beginning of sorrows’ of the last days.  Cataclysmic events are occurring in America and everywhere with unprecedented record-breaking weather, climatic events, earthquakes and volcanic activities every day, many very unusual and increasing in frequency and intensity, not including on-going corruption and violence, immorality and perversions, and other social, economic, national security issues etc.

The WRATH of GOD, the worst of the judgments is still to come, and we need to get ourselves right with God and get on His side of eternity.

This is the first part of a message that was sent to me by a brother in Christ back in October. I’m ashamed to say that it got put on the back burner during some hectic personal issues (fighting to resist mandatory flu shots with threat of termination). No excuses though, this is important information. PLEASE FORGIVE ME BROTHER BOB!

As a Holy Spirit trained Christian, understanding of the big picture has been a privilege to learn. There are so many aspects to learn, and it has taken me many, many years to put all the threads together in some areas. I do not expect most of the readers to understand. These subjects evolve, knowing the Word of God, religions, economic, political, judicial, media, and all the threads that connect to each subject.

The point of this article is to encourage people to put their pride aside, and…

The Fury of God’s Wrath- Dr. Gold’s Latest Post

Dr. Gold just posted ‘Super Storm Sandy- The Angry Fury of God’s Wrath’.  As a retired meteorologist he describes in great detail ‘The Exceptionality of Superstorm Sandy’.  And as a Bible teacher he writes about how to understand current events in light of the Bible, in the second part of the post.   This is an excerpt:

The Spiritual Significance of Superstorm Sandy- God’s Judgment Upon America

Proverbs 14:34 states ‘Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people’.  That Superstorm Sandy was a unique hybrid and exceptional storm is well accepted in scientific circles.  But while some scientists claim that it was a storm caused by global warming due to the excessive burning of fossil fuel, it does not explain why Superstorm Sandy happened just then in late October; where it would strike, and why it became such an intense and huge storm, instead of just weakening!  There is a more spiritual and supernatural reason for Superstorm Sandy- God’s wrath upon our landfor it is God who controls the weather, the tides, the moon, the stars, and holds the whole world in His hands. . .  ‘God’s Hidden Nuggets for the Endtimes

The Last Age Before Jesus Returns

Many people are wondering whether we are living in the last days of the last age before Jesus Christ returns to earth.  With the economic systems in America and Europe ready to collapse due to their great monetary indebtedness, an incipient war brewing in the Middle East, and with many nations armed to their teeth with nuclear warheads, many are wondering whether we are living in the endtimes.  Even now, there is a monster storm named HURRICANE SANDY moving north along the northeast corridor off the Atlantic Seaboard where over 50 million people are living.  This hurricane is appropriately dubbed FRANKENSTORM, . . .  or click ‘God’s Hidden Nuggets for the Endtimes’ in BLOG ROLL in side bar.

Satan Alive and Well On Planet Earth!

STS Readers:  (Originally posted for ‘Sounding the Shofar’ Facebook Group, 7-24-2012)

I started writing this as a response to my grown son, who was troubled with the recent killings at the Batman movie massacre in Colorado.  He has two teenagers who live in this bizarre world of ours.  As a mother, grandmother and a Christian, I decided to respond from a Biblical perspective and address it to mainly Christians.  WHY is there so much violence in the world today? Among the many lives cut short was a 6 year old child who had not even begun to live, and two servicemen who served and survived military time, only to return home and be senselessly slaughtered!

These were some of my comments:

In the Philippines I saw armed security guards with rifles or pistols at banks and ATM machines, and at fast food places everywhere, even at a gas station.  Maybe we should be in a more preventive mode in America also and search everyone at the door going into the movie theaters, have metal detectors in every public place, fast food places, and in every school and public institution for that matter! Why?  Because these have been places of bombings and killings!  ( Perhaps armed guards will be the norm for civil misbehavior with the recent rages of ‘flash mob rioting and looting’ in America that could easily have us become a ‘police state’!)

We need to remind ourselves that we live in a dangerous world that is ruled by Satan whose job is “to steal, kill and destroy” (John 10:10).  We need to imprint this Bible fact upon the minds of our youth- that Satan is the REAL ENEMY of our souls.  Our responsibility as parents, grandparents, ministers, church youth leaders, esp., is to teach the Word of God which commands us to be a pure and holy people, separated unto God.  If most of the time we spend in church is used for singing and program activities, there is little time left for Bible study.  While we live in this world, believers should not be a part of, nor love the world with its appeal and attractions, fads and fashions, music and entertainment, and drive for money, fame, and pleasure.  This is what the Bible says in 1 John 3:15-17:

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.  If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.”

Why does it seem like we’re experiencing more and more violence and evil today? Our physical world is also changing because God’s judgment is now upon the earth, as well as the people, as it was in the days of Noah:

“The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filed with violence.  And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt: for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.  And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filed with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.” (Genesis 6:11-13)

The Bible says in Isaiah 60:2 that the last days will be dark and filled with evil.

“For, behold the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people:”…

The second part of Isaiah 60:2 says, “and gross darkness the people” means that evil thoughts and motivations will consume the minds of people as the deranged young man, possessed of the devil who killed the movie goers.

Jesus said in the last days it will be like the days of Noah, when the earth was filled with violence and corruption just before the great flood.

“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day that Noah entered in  the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Mt 24:37-39)

Doesn’t this tell us that judgment is coming soon and that we should pay attention to the signs around us?  Only those who take heed to the Word of God and believe it, will persevere and survive the judgments coming upon the world.

When our youth involve themselves with the things of Satan, the prince of darkness, such as attending the diabolical movie ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ which is filled with massacre and killings, they  expose themselves to evil and thus risk danger to their own soul.  Anyone who intentionally gives Satan a door of opportunity to encourage his evil work, will ultimately suffer dire consequences as a victim, and many victims are destroyed by Satan whose intent is to take as many as he can to hell with him!

So my warning to all parents and spiritual leaders is to teach youth and adults, NOT TO PUSSYFOOT WITH THE DEVIL!  Herein is a truism:  Satan has GREAT POWER which he wields to do the works of darkness, and he is the MASTER OF MIND CONTROL.  When we give him our mind, instead of having on the mind of Christ, we will reap many D’s: Discouragement, Depression, Disillusionment, Deception, Despair, and Destruction, ending with Death, to name a few D’s.  The gunman in Colorado did not become possessed by evil overnight, but gradually over time allowed Satan to gain control over his mind.

I will continue posting more on this subject in Sounding the Shofar- The Enemy In Our Midst, about Satan’s strategies and devices to bring the downfall of Christians; how to overcome Satan and not be defeated by him and thus risk losing your salvation.

CONCLUSION:  In my eBook I wrote about the importance of God’s Word.  No Word of God=No Faith; No Faith=No Power; No Power=No Victory; No Victory means Satan has won.  You must believe that we are in a spiritual battle against Satan.  Avoidance of the subject of spiritual warfare and/or feigned or actual ignorance will spell your destruction as Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”... Satan is alive and well on Planet Earth!

Philippians 2:12 states, “…work out your OWN salvation with fear and trembling.”  Attending church regularly or worshipping and praising the Lord does not ensure our salvation, but it is only having a relationship with God, knowing His Word and obeying it that will save us (Ps 107:20). Christians who don’t stand fast in the Word and in their faith will take a beating from Satan.  Our only protection against Satan is abiding in God’s Word, and obeying it.  Separate yourselves from the world and worldly people for your own good, for your safety, for your and your family’s protection.  Stand on this Word:

“Greater is He that is in us (Jesus) than he that is in the world (Satan, our adversary).”  1John 4:4

Nowhere to Hide From God

Many folks who have read the 4 short chapters about Jonah may remember him as the disobedient prophet of God.  These are some of my comments on what God wants us to learn from this short Old Testament story about Jonah:

The book of Jonah is a story about ‘God’s Enduring Love’, about God’s reaching out to a people some might consider too wicked to be deserving of His love and mercy.  Too evil, for a righteous person like Jonah to warn them with a message from God.  Did Jonah have that attitude?  Do we sometimes regard other people that way?  But not God, who is the God of second, and many chances!  God keeps reaching out to us, trying to get our attention, sending prophets to warn us of what would happen if we don’t repent of our sins.  In Amos 3:7 it says, “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”  God sends his servants, the prophets, to warn of impending judgment that would fall upon the unrepentant.  God knows the extent of our wickedness, and when He is grieved and provoked enough and has run out of patience, He applies the heat and deals out His judgment- to get our attention.  And speaking of heat and heat waves, climatic changes, global warming, adverse weather conditions, etc., God is responsible for all that is happening today regarding the forces of nature.  It is He that has turned up the heat with historic, record-breaking 3 digit temperatures as recently experienced in parts of the U.S.  It is God who causes the droughts in the land, who has dried up the rivers and lakes, and who brings on the severe weather.

The wind and the waves obeyed God as He “sent a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken” (Jonah 1:4).  A severe storm with high winds and towering waves threatened to take the lives of the sailors and Jonah as they headed for Tarshish.  Even in the storm, God made His presence known with Jonah’s confession to the ship’s crew, of being the cause for the evil that had befallen them.  So the sailors who had prayed to their gods to no avail, began to call upon Jonah’s God to save them and prayed that He would not blame them for having to toss Jonah overboard.  They became believers in Jonah’s God when “the sea ceased from her raging.  Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows” (Jonah 1:16).

Jonah had thought that he would make himself inaccessible to God by running away as far as he could in the opposite direction of Nineveh, to Tarshish, but God already had a plan that would get Jonah back on course.

Jonah 1:17 says, “Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah.”  This great fish which some Bible translations say was a whale, was going the opposite direction of Tarshish and was commanded by God to transport Jonah to Nineveh where he was to deliver His warning of judgment that would fall in 40 days.  This great fish listened to and obeyed God, who gave him an assignment to be at the right spot to pick up his passenger Jonah, and delivered him to the correct destination where God had a job for him, Jonah, to do!  The fact that God also speaks to animals and uses them for His purposes never ceases to amaze me!  But those stories are for another time.  Getting back to Jonah. . .

Psalm 139:8-10 tell us that God knows everything, even our thoughts and the intents of our hearts.  After three days and three nights in the fish’s belly, Jonah was repentant! There is no hiding from God to escape His reach because He knows our whereabouts.  Whether a person is somewhere in the far reaches of our galaxy, down in the bowels of the earth, or in the depths of the sea, “even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me” (Ps 139:10).

Jonah 2:10 states,  “And the LORD spoke unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.”  Thus, God intercepted Jonah’s plan of running away from the job assigned to him, and next we find Jonah being reminded by God to preach the message that was given to him.  When Jonah picked himself off the shore, it took him a whole day to reach the city of Nineveh where he preached “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be  overthrown” (Jonah 3:4,3).  It took Jonah 3 days to cry out his message while walking the length and breath of the city since “Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days’ journey.”

The Bible tells us that the king of Nineveh, along with his people, believed Jonah’s message!  The king proclaimed a national fast throughout Nineveh, where everyone, including the animals, ate no food and drank no water.  His decree stated:

But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.  Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?” (Jonah 3:5-9)

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented from the evil that he had said he would do unto them; and he did it not” (Jonah 3:10).

God’s Enduring Love is illustrated in the dialogue with Jonah afterwards.  Jonah was not happy at all when he saw that nothing happened to the city.  In fact, the Bible says he was “very angry” and told the Lord why he ran away.  Why should he deliver a message that would not come to pass and that would make him look like a ‘false prophet’?  Jonah was greatly displeased when he waited to see what would become of the city and nothing happened.  He was also very angry as he prayed to God and said,

“for I knew that thou art a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil” (Jonah 4:2)

As he sat in the sweltering heat on the outskirts of the city under the shade of a gourd God planted for him, Jonah prayed for death as heat exhaustion was consuming him.  God had made a worm to eat the gourd and caused the gourd to wither, to point out to Jonah that while he felt sorry for the gourd that died, God felt sorry for 120,000 people and much cattle in the city, and needed to give them a warning and a chance to repent.   Who can fathom the Enduring Love of God, a God who is gracious and merciful to us, who will hear our prayers if we humbly seek His face and repent of our sins!

America should also heed God’s warning to repent of our individual and national sins:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chron 7:14).

But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, willI cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations”  (2 Chron 7:19-20).
