Whom Shall I Fear? Of Whom Shall I Be Afraid?

DON’T BE AFRAID. ‘God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind’ (2Tim 1:7). Lately, it’s ‘what’ and not ‘who’ we should be afraid of. Psa 91 Don’t be afraid of the pestilence that stalks In darkness (AMP). FEAR NOT. PRAY. TRUST GOD & HIS WORD.

God's Enduring Love

Psalm 27:1 and 14 tell us:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear?  the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
“Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
There are more Than 365 “Fear Not’s” in the Bible!
In ‘David, A Man After God’s Heart’ eBook, Chapter 4 (9-18-2012 post), I said in the introduction:
“. . .This past Sunday, the visiting preacher told us that God said “Fear not” 366 times in the Bible, which is like God saying that to us EVERY DAY, including leap year, knowing that we need to be reminded daily.  God loves us so much and is our GREATEST ENCOURAGER, so we really should spend more time letting Him speak to us from the Bible, imparting His Truth…

WHAT, WHO, WHY, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW?  These 6 proverbial questions provoke more controversy and discussion in the search for answers by Bible students and scholars alike.  All who diligently study the subject of the return of Christ hope that they have uncovered the truths or answers to when Christ will return.  But have they?

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.’ (2 Tim 2:15)

How many are willing to admit that they are no closer to the truth than when they first began studying about the last days and the return of Christ?  The more I study, the more there is to learn about God’s plan for mankind as hidden and revealed in the Word of God.

How many ‘Comings’? One coming, two comings; two phases of the return of Christ referred to as the ‘Second Coming’; one Rapture and a Second Coming; one Rapture which IS the Second Coming; or no Rapture and just one Second Coming???

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come (Jesus), then that which is in part shall be done away. . .For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:  now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (1Cor 13:9-10, 12)

These verses mean that NO ONE here on earth will have complete understanding of the details of the return of the Lord.

WHAT did Jesus say about His Return?

He said He WILL return.  (John 14:3).

He WARNED about not missing the event.

He said to be WATCHFUL.  (Mk 13:37)

Most of all, BE PREPARED and READY.

Jesus said ‘Watch ye therefore, and PRAY always, that ye may be accounted worthy to ESCAPE all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man’. (Luke21:36)

Mt24:35,36 ‘BUT’

BUT of THAT DAY  and hour... (Jesus is speaking to the Jews foremost).

BUT as the days of Noah were. . . (Jesus is talking about a group who will be taken away at His Coming).

Verses 42-44 indicate that WATCHING in expectancy and being READY  for Jesus’ Return is imperative because ‘in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Lk 12 WATCHING and WAITING is the focus of verses 37-40, 46.

We need be ready (now) because we don’t know when Jesus will come.  HE IS COMING, BUT WE DON’T KNOW THE EXACT TIME WHEN IT WILL BE.

Verse 46: The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

Jesus is Coming for those who believe that He is our Blessed Hope (Titus 2:13, Phil 3:20-21, 1John 3:2-3).

Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. . . (1Cor 15:51-58)

When Jesus comes, there will be no time for doubters to check if His Coming fits in with their theology.  We who look for His Return will be gone by then- . .’in the twinkling of an eye.’
