PRAY THE ‘OUR FATHER’ (LUKE 11:1-4)
Jesus said ‘. . .when ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Give us day by day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation; but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
With so much happening in the world lately, we need to be fervent about praying every day for protection from evil. Jesus taught us how to pray to God, our Father in heaven, and this last part is of particular importance- ‘DELIVER US FROM EVIL’.
We need to include this part, ‘DELIVER US FROM EVIL’ in our daily prayers because the days we live in are very evil, as in the days of Noah when:
‘. . .God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth
and that every imagination
of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually’. (Gen 6:5)
‘The earth also was corrupt before God,
and the earth was filled with violence’. (Gen 6:11)
The apostle Paul described the last days as perilous times and a time of increasing evil (2 Tim 3:1-5, 13). This period at the end of the age is described in Luke 21:25-26:
‘And there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon, and in the stars;
and upon the earth distress of nations,with perplexity;
the sea and the waves roaring;
Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things
which are coming on the earth:
for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.’
PRAY ‘DELIVER US FROM EVIL‘
Pray for God’s divine protection so He will ‘DELIVER US FROM EVIL‘ by naming our family members, friends, co-workers; pray for those in authority, etc.; pray specific prayers. When we stand in the gap and intercede for others, God wants to hear the details, and see the sincerity and intent of our hearts!
I always cover my family with prayers for protection ‘from the evil one, from harm and evil; sickness and disease, accidents and injuries‘; for traveling mercies for my children and grandchildren as they drive to work, and to school, etc. We need to cover all our bases when we pray for God to protect and ‘DELIVER US FROM EVIL’.
Pray for God’s angels to watch our coming in and going out, that they will go before us and surround us. Trust God to ‘DELIVER US FROM EVIL.’
Verse to remember:
‘For God shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone’. (Psalm 91:11-12)

God’s Handwriting On the Wall
Over 2500 years ago, God gave King Belshazzar of Babylon, the son of Nebuchadnezzar, a startling message written on the palace wall while he had a great party feasting with a thousand of his lords and captains. ‘Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein’ Da5:2. Then Belshazzar saw a giant hand and a large handwriting which he could not understand written on the plaster wall. The troubled king in fright called for his astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers, promising anyone who could interpret the message to be the third ruler in the kingdom. No one could give the interpretation, until the queen suggested that Daniel, the prophet…

‘Then said Jesus unto the twelve, ‘Will ye also go away?’ (John 6:66-67)

A FALLING AWAY IS COMING!
The apostle Paul wrote about the final days in 2 Thessalonians 2: 1-3
‘Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
A falling away of Christians from their faith is already here and will escalate until the return of Christ. There will be NO revival before the tribulation, though many pastors believe otherwise. The end time revival in the Bible refers to the saints in white robes that John saw in heaven, who were martyred and ‘came out of great tribulation’, the saints who did not worship and take the mark of the beast (Rev 7:13-14). Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible suggests this falling away group of 2Thess 2:1-3 are the fallen Christians who worshipped the beast, took his mark and their ‘names are not written in the book of life. . .’ (Rev 13:8).
Fallen away Christians abandon Biblical truths and accept a false gospel and/or forsake and renunciate their Christian faith. Many volumes of books have been written on the subject of the end time apostasy and sermons have been preached on this phenomenon taking place before our eyes. The falling away has been occurring in America and world-wide over the past decades and is escalating in our day. The Barna Group reports that churches in America and throughout the world are experiencing declining church membership. They say that although the majority (71 percent) of those polled in 2016 claim to be ‘Christian’, only one out of three is a ‘practicing Christian’ according to their criteria, which includes church attendance at least once a month. More and more churches are nearly empty and many are closing, shutting their doors and hanging a sign ‘Church Closed’ like in a vision I saw a few years ago.
Jesus is asking us the same two questions today and I believe the answers to these two questions will probably go like this:
‘Will you leave me also?’ ‘I sure hope not!’
‘Will I find faith on earth when I return?’ ‘I sure hope so!’
ARE YOU AT HIGH RISK FOR FORSAKING CHRIST AND FALLING AWAY?
A brief checklist of high risk Christians includes those who:
- Trust man’s teachings without knowing what is in God’s Word, the Holy Bible.
- Prefer mainly feel good sermons, but not sermons speaking against sin.
- Accept a church which adapts to the changing American culture and world views, but not stick with the Truth.
- Are comfortable with LGBT ministers preaching and/or LGBT musicians leading worship.
- Have little personal interest in reading/studying the Bible, and having a prayer life.
- Enjoy worldly church entertainment; ‘love the world and the things of the world’ (1 John 2:15).
DECEPTION AND IGNORANCE OF GOD’S WORD
In Matthew chapter 24:4, 5, 11, 24, Jesus warned that deception would abound before His coming. The deceivers are charismatic and smooth talking Bible teachers and prophets that move in our circles. They are among us as tares mixed in with the wheat, as goats among the sheep; they are wolves in sheep clothing. These false teachers will be teaching and preaching from our pulpits and will deceive many with false doctrines and turn many away from Biblical truths. Ignorance goes hand in hand with deception. Many will believe a lie because they have no knowledge of the Truth; if they knew the Truth then they would recognize the false. The armour of God in Eph 6:10-18 would serve no good purpose without knowledge of having a weapon and knowing how to use it. The ‘sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God’ (Eph 6:17) completes the whole armour needed to wield and put the enemy to flight. The only protection from deception and falling away from our faith is our knowledge of the scriptures that relate to our ‘blessed hope’, our salvation, and assurance that we will be ready to join Christ at His Coming.
‘Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.’ (2 Tim 2:15)
Since Jesus has not returned yet, there is still a chance to REPENT, RETURN, AND REMAIN with Him, but after He comes back as He promised He would, it will be too late to accept Him.

“What does the Bible say about the power of words?” 9/13/2017 Written by Elihu Anderson for “elihu’s corner”
With our words we speak life and death to the hearer. Let us remember to lift up and encourage others with the words we speak to them, that bless them.

Don’t have your head in the sand! The last days are likened to the days of Noah. Look around and see the signs of the soon coming of the Lord. Mt 24:37-39.
Tha analogy between the Ark which God commanded Noah to build for him and his family; and the Savior of the world who God sent to earth to die for your sins and then to be raised on the third day is truly astounding.
Have you rejected Christ in your life?
Your opinion of Jesus and rejection of his offer of eternal life will seal your fate. All other so-called religions offer false hopes. Hinduism offers reincarnation as a way of “bettering” yourself in your next life. This is a lie from Satan.
The Bible says this:
“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).
You have one life. You are utterly helpless apart from our Redeemer Jesus Christ. He paid the price for your sins, and made a way for you to be in heaven with the Father because of

‘ . . . I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore CHOOSE LIFE that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: (Deut 30:19-20)
Make the RIGHT choice!
Place your trust in God; let God direct your life.
‘Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.'(Prov 3:5-8)
Choose the right path and go in that direction; follow Jesus who will show you the way to go.
Jesus said, ‘I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
‘Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, that leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Mt 7:13-14)
Believe in Jesus and Live!
‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
Obey God’s Word and be blessed!
‘If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. . . he will guide you into all truth . . and he will show you things to come.’ (John 14:15-17; 16:13)
I pray that you have already made the RIGHT CHOICE to FOLLOW JESUS . If you haven’t done so, DO SO TODAY.
‘Now is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation.’ (2 Cor 6:2)
GOD BLESS YOU!!!
The decorations for Easter/Resurrection Sunday were being taken down in our beautiful church when I decided to quickly take a picture. It was a memorable and touching service that started with a photo on the large screen showing the two pastors bearing this large (bare) wooden cross upon their shoulders on Good Friday. A small group walked with them along the street of the block where the church is located. What a difference in program from last year 2016. Besides the traditional brass ensemble and hand bell choir, we sang many of my favorite hymns- Christ the Lord is Risen Today, Because He Lives, Lord I Lift Your Name on High, (with hand motions by the congregation led by the song leader), and He Lives, the old-time hymn I used to sing in the Baptist church I attended as a teenager. Most importantly, the pastor preached a powerful message on the Risen Christ based on Mt. 28:1-10. Christ defeated sin and death at the cross for us.
CHRIST IS RISEN; HE IS RISEN INDEED!
HE IS OUR BLESSED HOPE AND COMING KING! HALLELUJAH!

“… if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain…” 1 Cor 15:17
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” John 11:25-26
Job believed that he would be resurrected one day. He said:
“For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.” Job 19:25-27

There are the true believers and make believers, wheat and tares, sheep and goats in the ‘body of Christ’. Galatians 1:8 -9 states, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” How important is Paul’s warning that he repeats himself! Do not compromise the gospel!

25 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes. Judges 21:25 (NASB)
We live in an evil time. There are large numbers of “Christian” leaders who claim to be ministers of God, but prove by their words and actions to have thrown off the authority of God. They do what is right in their own eyes while claiming that they are only following the leading of the Holy Spirit. The fact that what they say or do is unbiblical seems to trouble very few. When some point out the truth to them, they claim that God has lead them to do what they do so it must be okay and those who protest are just legalistic.
