Noah’s Ark Afloat
Oil painting by Liz

Jesus said,I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved..’ (John 10:9)

And the LORD said unto Noah, ‘Come thou and all thy house into the ark: for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.’  (Gen 7:1)

And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark . . .  Of clean beasts and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,  there went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah . . . and the LORD shut him in.  And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.  (Gen 7:7-9, 16, 10)

Who didn’t go into the ark with Noah and his family and menagerie  of animals?

Who didn’t heed Noah’s warnings and perished in the flood?

It happened just like Methuselah’s prophecy-

The grandfather of Noah was given a name that meant

’When he was dead (the deluge) shall come’.

Methuselah was 187 years old at Lamech’s birth,

Had other sons and daughters

And lived another 782 years,

So Lamech, Noah’s dad, had brothers and sisters.

That means Noah had uncles and aunts

And many cousins, too!

They missed the boat!

An untold multitude of people living in Noah’s day

His friends, neighbors and acquaintances, too,

Messed up big time that fateful day,

They missed the boat!

Noah’s father, Lamech, was 182 years old when Noah was born.

He lived another 595 years and had sons and daughters,

Lamech missed the deluge that came 5 years after he died.

But not so for  Noah’s brothers and sisters

And many nephews and nieces,

They missed the boat!

Noah didn’t have children until he was 500 years old,

They were Shem, Japheth, and Ham

And with their mother and their wives,

They went aboard the ark!

God saved Noah and his family and selected animals from the flood

And though it  came 100 years later and covered the earth,

A hundred years of warnings went unheeded even as today.

  2. So very true.. Don’t Miss The Boat!

Jesus warned ‘But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be’ Mt24:37-39.

Here Jesus is referring to the days we are living in, before His coming, where MANY, as In Noah’s day will perish forever because they were not ready! Jesus also said ‘Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh’ Mt24:44.

    • Thank you for your comment! And I should add that the days we’re living in are likened to the days of Noah:
‘When God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. . .and it grieved him at his heart. . . The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. . .And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.’ (Gen 6:5-6, 11,13).
