TODAY’S WORD- A Friend of One or the Other

Dear Christian,

Are you a friend of the world and its attractions?  Do you enjoy the company of worldly people and think and act no different than them?  If you’re having trouble with these simple questions, your relationship with God and your salvation may be in serious jeopardy.

These are but few scriptures which tell us that we cannot be fence straddlers or compromisers with the world.

“. . .whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”  (James 4:4b)

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”  (1John 2:15)

“No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”  (Lk 16:13)

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”  (Amos 3:3)

“. . .present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”  (Rom 12:1-2)

I exhort you today to get your life together, to live to please God and serve God in words and deeds, without reservations.  Get into God’s Word which will restore and increase your faith.  We need to be an example to others around us, encouraging them in their faith as well.  Romans 10:17 tells us that we get faith from God speaking to us in His Word.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
