War, Famine, Pestilence, & Earthquakes Matthew 24: 7 & 8


According to Mt 24:7-8 there are 4 indicators that we are living in the end times or the ‘beginning of sorrows’. These are the rise in wars and rumors of wars, famines, pestilence and earthquakes.

We are living in the grievous times of the last days.  2 Timothy chapter 3 gives a description of Satan at work causing rebellion, division in the church, persecution of Christians, etc.

Jesus said to pay attention to the signs and to look for His Coming.

Matthew chapter 24 is an often-studied section of prophetic scripture. Here we see Jesus explaining how things will unravel at the end of the world. (It won’t really be the end of the world but the end of an age. We will enter an era of peace on earth that humanity has never known before. I think if people realized this they would be much more eager to explore these end-of-the-world scenarios.)

Jesus is responding to a direct question from the disciples.

They ask him;

  1. “When shall these things be, and
  2. what shall be the sign of thy coming, and
  3. of the end of the world?”

Jesus gave them some details but we wish he had given more. Let’s continue exploring what he said.
