JESUS LOVES THEM! Young Children on Worship Team; Baptism of Teens

SUNDAY AT CHURCH

SUNDAY AT CHURCH 3-15-15

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into  the house of the LORD.  (Psalms 122:1)

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”  (Luke 18:16 NIV)

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”  (Prov 22:6)

Two brothers, ages 6 and  8 were part of the worship team yesterday.  They were  accompanied by a guitarist, a lead song leader and me, tambourine player.  These boys are nephews of the pastor of a small Filipino congregation that meets in a warehouse building in the outskirts of Honolulu.  We are missionaries and teach and preach there on alternate Sundays as well as teach a weekly Bible class at another church in the city.

The brothers are also the youngest members of the worship dance group who dance with tambourines,  a popular worship activity in some of the churches in the Philippines as well.  Their sister,  has danced beautiful worship hula from a young age and is also on the worship team at Lamb of God Church.

During the time for Praise Reports, I shared that my 17 year old granddaughter and 3 of her friends from her Christian school were baptized in the ocean this past weekend.

How wonderful that there is a move of the Holy Spirit upon the hearts of our youth, these young ladies lead in worship songs and dance,  Bible studies, mentor young converts, and most of all show themselves as good Christian witnesses.

WATER BAPTISM

My favorite account of a water baptism is found in Acts 8.  The apostle Philip preached Jesus to the Ethiopian eunuch in the Gaza desert while riding with him in his chariot:

“And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.  And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.”  (Acts 8:36-39)

PRAISE THE LORD!

In water baptism the old man is put to death in the watery grave to rise up a new creature in Christ, identifying oneself with the family of God.  As I shared in church some have not been water baptized yet and struggle yet with sin; we need to destroy the body of sin.

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: . . .

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.”  (Rom 6:6-8, 22)

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (1Cor 15:57)

PRAISE GOD!  HALLELUJAH!
