WHY DO PEOPLE RESIST GOD- Most Popular Post
It is January 2015! How time has flown by! Since I posted ‘Why Do People Resist God’ in Sept. 2013, it has been a very popular post on this blogsite. So if you have not read this post yet and wonder about this question, PLEASE READ IT in the Archives- Sept. 4, 2013.
I wrote in Jan. 2014: “I am reblogging this because 2014 is a new year. What are your prospects or hopes and dreams for this year? Every day that passes brings us another day closer to the Lord’s return. Life is uncertain; the national and world situation are unstable; life can be one crisis after another; no one is guaranteed a tomorrow. One day I called an old friend and his wife said he died of a heart attack while away on a trip. I’m so glad he is with the Lord! There are some of you viewers who need to make a decision TODAY to commit your life into God’s hands, into His loving care and protection and secure your future and where you will spend your eternity. God bless you!’ ~Liz
Franklin Graham presents his perspective on some reasons why many hearts are far from God as he writes about America having ‘a culture of death’. His article is called ‘Franklin Graham: America’s ‘Culture of Death’ Stems From a ‘Sinful, Godless Worldview That Rejects Christ’ on cnsnews.com, (See BLOG) Jan. 12, 2015.
It is about hearts that are not only RESISTANT to God’s love and gift of eternal life, but cold and hardened with no respect for the preciousness of life in general. These people’s hearts have REJECTED GOD. GOD ALMIGHTY is not revered; HIS WORD is not honored and obeyed; and those who have faith in Him are often misunderstood, scorned and ridiculed in the present day, all over the world.
The apostle Paul describes these last days that we are living in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV) Does this sound like what we have become?
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money,boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”
To those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, Paul writes in Ephesians 2: 1-9:
2 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
This is how the apostle prayed for the believers in Ephesians 1:16-23
16 (I) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Take note of verse 18 and it will give you an idea of why God is resisted and rejected- it is because of BLINDNESS, SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS, HAVING EYES THAT DO NOT SEE. These folks are blinded by their own choices and blinded by the god of this world, Satan.
Why do people resist God? They have eyes, but don’t see!
This post concerns those who “have eyes, but don’t see and ears that don’t hear” (Mark 8:18). It is about NON-BELIEVERS, especially about those family members, relatives and close friends who are not yet in the sheepfold. Many are ‘good people’ and could even be your own family members who have dismissed God from their conversation and not let Him have any part of their lives. They could be others who know little or nothing about God, some even from their youth to adult life. They have either purposedly avoided any talk of religion around you, not included Christians in their social circles, or have had any kind of Christian or religious talk they heard to ‘go in one ear and out the other ear’. Many non-believers are not hostile to God necessarily, but would take personal offence and…
