WHY JESUS CAME- He Came To HELP Us

Jesus said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." (Heb 13:5)

Jesus said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” (Heb 13:5)

I.  GOD LOVES US AND IS WITH US

Because of God’s great love for us, He came to earth to be with us as

“Emmanuel, which being interpreted is,  God with us”.   (Mt 1:23)

II.  JESUS CAME TO BE OUR SAVIOR

“And she shall bring forth a son, an thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins”  (Mt 1:21)

Isaiah’s Prophecy

Over 700 years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah wrote about Jesus:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder:  and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”  (Isa 9:6)

III.  JESUS CAME TO BE OUR COUNSELLOR AND FRIEND

He came to be our FRIEND and BROTHER.

Jesus is the “firstborn among many brethren.”  (Rom 8:29)

He is “a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”  (Prov 18:24)

He said, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”  (Heb 13:5b)

He came to be our COUNSELLOR AND COMFORTER

“Casting all your care upon Him; for he careth for you.”  (1 Pe 5:7)

Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  (Mt 11:28)

Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”  (Jer 33:3)

I will not leave you comfortless:  I will come to you.  (John 14:18)

He is our teacher and guide to show us the way to the Father.  Jesus said,

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”  (John 14:26)

“I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  (John 14:6)

“For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God:”  (John 3:34)

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”  (John 8:31-32)

Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”  (Mt 4:4)

In a synagogue in Nazareth, Jesus spoke of his ministry as He quoted from the prophecy of Isaiah written 700 years before His birth (Lk 4:18; Isa 61:1-2)

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,because he hath

  • anointed me to preach the  gospel to the poor,

  • he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,

  • to preach deliverance to the captives,

  • and recovering of sight to the blind,

  • to set at liberty them that are bruised,

  • To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

IV.  IN JESUS, WE HAVE HOPE AND A FUTURE

Jesus came to give us life and a future, and to destroy the works of the devil:

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:  I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  (John 10:10)

“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”  (1John 3:8b)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  (Jer 29:11 NIV)

As The MIGHTY GOD and THE PRINCE OF PEACE, Jesus will return the 2nd time to rule and reign as KING OF KINGS and LORD of LORDS!

“And the government shall be upon his shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  (Isa 9:6)

“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.  The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”  (Isa 9:7)

The apostle John wrote:

“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.”  (John 21:25)

  1. A wonderful testimony of the Godhead or Trinity as They are called today, The Three in One,Thank you Liz, I was blessed as I read the Hope in your message, to know Jesus in our heart is to know our Abba Father.

So very True also what you shared, we do not walk alone even in our Storms, the Scripture the Lord gave me in mine, confirms this Truth 100%

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Christian Love from both of us – Anne
