Ukulele Ministry at FCCCH

First Chinese Church of Christ in Hawaii- FCCCH, has an ukulele group that meets every Friday morning at church.   We play worship songs in church every 4th Sunday.  In addition, we enjoy playing oldies, country music, Christmas songs, Hawaiian and other songs at nursing homes, retirement centers and church events.  Some of the members provide ukulele music at memorial services of church members and friends who have gone home to be with the Lord.   Several of the women also do the hula and worship dance.

You can watch some of our performances on YouTube by searching for our church, song titles or  Kekapa Lee, our  Hawaiian-Chinese pastor who has a great tenor voice in ‘E Maliu Mai’.  Some songs on You Tube are Above All,  Because He Lives, and  the beautiful song that we sing for benediction, ‘E Aloha Mai’.

The First Chinese Church in Hawaii is the oldest and historic landmark church with roots that go back to 130+ years ago.  Do check out the videos-

Our ukulele group went to Hawaii Kai Retirement Home today to play our ukulele and sing; we also had hula dancers, a percussionist and keyboard player. Then the First Chinese Church of Christ ukulele ohana (family) enjoyed a Chinese lunch together. Since we started the group with Pastor Kekapa Lee, we have quadrupled in size and have an ukulele orchestra of folks who pick and strum with finesse. We have many videos on You Tube so check them out! (So happens in this link you’ll see me in a purple blouse when we were still a small group.) We play in church every second Sunday at 10:30 service if you’re in Honolulu.
