“FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD. . .”

God loves the WORLD!  That means EVERYBODY who lives here on earth- no matter your skin color, ethnicity,  level of education, whether rich or poor, young or old, fat or skinny, attractive or ugly, whatever religion or philosophy you subscribe to, or even the life styles you practice!  HE LOVES YOU!  FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD. . .

But sometimes I think God may love children or youth even more than others.  I guess because I worked as a teacher and administrator for many years, I’ve found that young people’s hearts are so filled with pure and simple faith, and they are so open to the Word of God.  They don’t question or nit pick at what the Bible says, like many adults do.  And when they sing and praise the Lord, they sing with a lot of energy!  Nobody sleeps during worship time in the Filipino churches we’ve worked in on our mission trips!

Jesus said that we should come to Him like children do, with child-like faith, to receive the love and blessings of God.  Don’t keep kids from learning about God, and don’t let anyone discourage YOU from seeking to know God and drawing closer to Him!  God loves them and GOD LOVES YOU!

I like this paraphrased version from the Message, Luke 18:15-17:

“People brought babies to Jesus, hoping he might touch them.  When the disciples saw it, they shooed them off.  Jesus called them back.  (He said) Let these children alone.  Don’t get between them and me.  These children are the kingdom’s pride and joy.  Mark this:  Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.”

  1. how do we love our enemies, do good to those who bring us reproach? Godʻs ways seem to be OPPOSITE of what we are taught and/or naturally feel. The ways that seem right to us, bring destruction upon us. His ways are higher (and possibly opposite of what we ought to do).

  2. God’s ways are definitely higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isa 55:8). If you place your faith in God, He will show you the right way to handle matters and keep you from acting upon your own inclinations. Read Proverbs
    16:3, 9.
